KTSF Channel 26 is bringing back an audience favorite, “KUNG FU THEATER” airing Mondays through Thursdays from 11pm to 12midnight, starting July 27, 2021 continuing through February 2022.
“KUNG FU THEATER” is hosted locally by Master Tat-Mau Wong, former Southeast Asian Full Contact Fighting & Forms Champion and the host of the original 1990’s KTSF favorite “Kung Fu Theater”. Master Wong is the founder of the Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy with numerous Bay Area locations and associations in Connecticut, Texas, Colorado, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
Master Wong has been recognized as ‘one of the most influential martial artists of the 20th Century, along with the likes of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, & Chuck Norris and also holds titles in the ‘Black Belt Hall of Fame’ as ‘Man of The Year’ and ‘Kung Fu Artist of The Year’.
“KUNG FU THEATER” is comprised of three popular and classic martial arts serials, each based on a famous novel by Jin Yong – the greatest and most popular martial arts novelist – known in Chinese communities around the world. KTSF selected three of the most popular series for “KUNG FU THEATER”: "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", "Demi-Gods & Semi-Gods", and "The Return of the Condor Heroes". Each serial is about 40 episodes, and KTSF will be airing a total of 123 episodes over 31 weeks.
Language of the popular “KUNG FU THEATER” is in Mandarin, with subtitles in both Chinese and English, so everyone in the Bay Area has the opportunity to enjoy "chopsocky", a reference to the many recurring cheesy or campy elements most often associated with “KUNG FU THEATER”. Audiences love the artificial sounding "whacks", "whooshes", "clangs" and "swishes" that are often dubbed into fight scenes to make them more dramatic, along with the echoing "whack" and the slow motion that often accompany a final blow.
KTSF is a full-power television station, established 45 years ago in 1976. KTSF has six transmitters strategically placed throughout the market, and KTSF is carried on cable (Comcast 8, 708, and 1028) and satellite systems covering the entire San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose television market. KTSF serves 2.1 million Asian consumers in the Bay Area. KTSF has teamed up with VUit for a powerful streaming app for mobile/CTV/OTT that is one of the most powerful local streaming apps in the United States. The VUit App is free to download and free to use, available for iOS, Android, Roku, FireTV, and AppleTV, and through any internet browser at www.vuit.com/ktsf .
