From the beginning introductory classes, our curriculum guides students step by step through the technical material, easing them into the rigors of training, developing their skills, and helping them achieve their goals. The ongoing curriculum teaches our adult students effective and practical self-defense, and all the movements, intricacies, and applications of the many Kung fu techniques and forms. Many of our adult students have little or no martial arts background before training at the Academy yet soon they're developing skills they initially thought would be difficult. We also have many focused and intent teens, who have found in Kung Fu a unique, athletic and interesting challenge. Our students tell us time and time again, that there is no other work-out or sport that accomplishes so much in such an efficient way. Following are the various training programs offered to meet our students' individual needs and goals: Traditional Kung Fu & Self-Defense: The traditional program is the main course that most students begin with. Students learn the Choy Lay Fut style of Kung Fu which includes: self-defense, open hand and weapons forms, throwing, grappling, fighting application of the various "animal techniques", and some of the cultural, philosophical and historical material. Our students gain many kinds of experiences from the traditional training in class, to the experiences gained by participating in optional extra-curricular activities as tournaments, performances, parades, and even lion dancing! This program's emphasis is on gaining proficiency with the techniques and self-defense applications, and on gaining increased health and fitness levels, coordination and flexibility, confidence, and the ability to focus energies in order to achieve ones goals. Black Belt Program:We have a special training program for our most dedicated students that provides an intensive curriculum even greater in detail and diversity. Special subject classes and seminars are held in each Academy to provide extra training opportunities and additional assistance in refining technical abilities. The Academy's Black Belt Program provides these students with the full spectrum of training necessary to prepare for and achieve a Black Belt degree.Master's program:This program is for our Black Belt students who have the goal of mastering the art. Emphasis is on mastering Kung Fu and on gaining a wide variety of Martial Art knowledge. Master Tat-Mau Wong, his top instructors, and well known guest Masters from around the world, offer workshops and seminars to members of the Master's program. These special classes provide students with insight and experience in many martial art styles. These dedicated and advanced students will gain the technical ability and the diverse knowledge necessary to become a Master. |
