TWO GREAT MARTIAL ARTS LEGENDS PASS AWAY Master Wong & the Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy express their sympathy & sadness at the passing of two great martial art legends, Grandmaster Shek Kin & David Carradine. Martial arts actor, Grandmaster Shek Kin, most famously known as the villain ‘Mr. Han’ from ENTER THE DRAGON, passed away on June 4th, 2009, at the amazing age of 96. Grandmaster Shek Kin was also known for his long-time role as a villain in the Wong Fei-Hung film series and was one of the most recognized faces in the Hong Kong cinema. Unlike many of the other actors of his time who were trained in Chinese Opera, Grandmaster Shek Kin was a true trained kung fu master with incredible talent & skills. Grandmaster Shek Kin was a special teacher, mentor & friend to Master Tat-Mau Wong. On Master Wong’s first trip to the USA in 1980, he traveled together with his sifu, the late Grandmaster Lee Koon Hung, and Grandmaster Shek Kin. The three Masters toured the east & west coasts performing in a special kung fu show. Throughout the many years since then, Master Wong had visited Grandmaster Shek Kin during his trips back home to Hong Kong. Master Wong was always inspired by Shek Kin’s strength, energy, wisdom & incredible spirit. Master Wong says, “Although he was famous for his roles as these legendary villains, the truth is, he was one of the kindest, most sincere & honest people I have ever known. I count myself fortunate to have known this great man. His spirit & guidance is an inspiration that will last throughout my life.” We also will greatly miss David Carradine, the star of the TV series ‘Kung Fu’ & the ‘Kill Bill’ movies. Mr. Carradine passed away in Thailand at the age of 72. His influence on Kung Fu affected generations of martial artists & introduced many in the general public to the art & philosophy of Kung Fu. With deep respect, we send our sympathy & condolences to their families and friends. They both will be greatly missed.
